District Returning Officers say that all the necessary arrangements for the 2024 Presidential Election are already completed. 
Israeli warplanes carried out late on Thursday their most intense strikes on southern Lebanon in nearly a year of war, heightening the conflict between Israel and Lebanese armed group Hezbollah amid calls for restraint. 
District Returning Officer M. P. Sumanasekara stated that nine government officials from the Hambantota District have been removed from their respective election duties after being found guilty of promoting presidential candidates. 
The departure of relevant staff for duties related to the 2024 Presidential Election and the transporting of ballot papers and ballot boxes has now commenced. 
The Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Thilaka Jayasundara, announced that the paper marking process of the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination, which was held on September 15, has been temporarily suspended.
