Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasooriya affirmed that law enforcement in Sri Lanka operates without political interference, following instructions from the current government to apply the law equally to all citizens. 
The officers attached to the Narcotic Control unit at the Bandaranayake International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake have arrested a passenger at the Green Channel who had arrived from Thailand with a stock of narcotic substances identified as Kush cannabis concealed in the checked luggage and his backpack. 
Gampaha District parliamentary candidate and leader of the Sarvajana Balaya alliance, Dilith Jayaweera, emphasized the need for politics free from hatred and anger, stating that racism should never take root in the country. 
Police have seized a suspicious Land Rover Defender discovered at a residence in Pallekele, Kandy.
