Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting that killed one person and injured two others in the Goviyapana area in the Midigama Police Division yesterday. 
The Attorney General informed the Supreme Court today (20) that no decision has been made to arrest former Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Shani Abeysekera, and former Senior DIG in charge of the CID Ravi Seneviratne, in connection with the investigations into the Easter Sunday attacks. 
District Returning Officer M. P. Sumanasekara stated that nine government officials from the Hambantota District have been removed from their respective election duties after being found guilty of promoting presidential candidates. 
A fundamental rights petition has been submitted before the Supreme Court requesting the court to issue an order declaring that the government s decision to restructure the debt associated with Sri Lanka s international sovereign bonds has violated the basic human rights of the citizens. 
The Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Thilaka Jayasundara, announced that the paper marking process of the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination, which was held on September 15, has been temporarily suspended.
