The departure of relevant staff for duties related to the 2024 Presidential Election and the transporting of ballot papers and ballot boxes has now commenced. 
Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting that killed one person and injured two others in the Goviyapana area in the Midigama Police Division yesterday. 
Commonwealth observers, working across various teams, have reported to their posts across all nine provinces in Sri Lanka, ahead of the country s presidential election on 21 September 2024, a statement said. 
The Education Ministry says the decision on whether to hold the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination again or not will be made after the CID and the Exams Department complete their investigations into the alleged leaking of questions. 
The Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Thilaka Jayasundara, announced that the paper marking process of the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination, which was held on September 15, has been temporarily suspended.
