Former President Maithripala Sirisena has appeared before the Criminal Investigations Department in order to record a statement today (03). 
The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for high waves for the sea areas extending from Kalpitiya to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota for the period from 05.00 a.m. tomorrow (04 May) to 05.00 a.m. the following day. 
Sri Lanka s rupee, which suffered severe depreciation because of the island nation s unprecedented economic crisis since 2022, has started to make gains in comparison to other currencies, State Minister for Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said on Friday. 
The Meteorology Department says showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara district after 2.00 p.m. 
It has been decided to restrict local pilgrims from climbing Sri Pada (Adam s Peak) during the off-season.
