The Indian Coast Guard has detained a 07 Sri Lankans together with a mechanised fishing boat for poaching in Indian waters. 
The small fishing boats along the coasts of Mannar to Colombo via Galle, Hambantota to Pottuvil and Ampara are advised not to venture out to sea from 12 noon today until further notice. 
Sri Lanka Navy, in coordination with the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC)in Colombo have rescued 03 fishermen from a distressed local fishing vessel off the east coast of Sri Lanka, about 42 nautical miles (77km) off the Batticaloa Lighthouse on Friday (17). 
The Global Peace Ambassador and Spiritual Leader Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar arrived in Sri Lanka this afternoon (18), on a three-day visit. 
Researchers from the Zoological Survey of India, in partnership with the Andhra Pradesh Biodiversity Board, rediscovered the Sri Lankan golden-backed frog (Hylarana gracilis) after two centuries in the Koundinya wildlife sanctuary in the Chittoor district, the southernmost point of the Eastern Ghats in Andhra Pradesh.
