The Committee on Public Finance (CoPF) has approved, subject to conditions, the Recovery of Loans by Banks (Special Provisions) (Amendment) Bill which was amended to facilitate legal provisions for the suspension of Parate Law until December 15. 
The death toll climbed to 48 on Thursday as search efforts continued in southeastern China after a highway section collapsed in a mountainous area, sending more than 20 cars down a steep slope. 
State Minister for Plantation Industries and Mahaweli Development, Lohan Ratwatte emphasized that the Mahaweli Authority will not tolerate any illegal activities on its land. 
The price of Litro domestic LP gas cylinders have been slashed with effect from midnight today (May 03), the Chairman of Litro Gas Muditha Peiris announced.
