Former Sri Lankan cricket captain and former minister Arjuna Ranatunga joined the May Day rally of the Samagi Jana Balavegaya (SJB) which was held in the Thalawakele area this morning (May 01). 
The passenger ferry service between Nagapattinam and Kankesanthurai in Sri Lanka, which resumed in October 2023 after almost 40 years only to be stopped days later, is set to recommence on May 13. 
Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) leader Sajith Premadasa has reiterated that Sri Lanka s debt agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) would be amended under an SJB government in the future. 
Sri Lanka s gross official reserves (GOR) stood at USD 5 billion by the end of March 2024, recording a notable increase compared to USD 4.4 billion at the end of 2023. 
Police Special Task Force (STF) personnel have recovered a stock of drugs including 13 kg of heroin allegedly belonging to an underworld figure, during a rain carried out near the Sri Jayewardenepura University, Nugegoda.
