A helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his foreign minister crashed on Sunday as it was crossing mountain terrain in heavy fog, an Iranian official told Reuters, and rescuers were making their way to the site of the incident. 
The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for heavy rain, for Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-western provinces and for Galle, Matara, Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya and Mannar districts. 
All schools in the Puttalam district will be closed on Monday (May 20) due to the adverse weather conditions. 
President Ranil Wickremesinghe on Monday expressed condolences following the demise of Iranian President Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
