Rescue teams in India struggled through thick sludge and debris on Saturday to reach dozens of submerged homes as the death toll from landslides and accidents caused by torrential monsoon rain rose to 125. 
The case relating to the detention of 38 Sri Lankan nationals last month for staying illegally in India has been now handed over to the India s National Investigation Agency (NIA), a senior Indian police officer has said on Saturday. 
A total of 517 more people tested positive for COVID-19 today (July 24), bringing the daily count of positive cases reached 1,737.
