The Puttalam Quazi Court Judge has been arrested by Bribery Commission officers while allegedly soliciting a bribe of Rs. 5,000. 
Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Iranian President Dr. Ebrahim Raisi jointly inaugurated the Uma Oya Multipurpose Development Project (UOMDP) on Wednesday (24). 
Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera says the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) incurred a loss to the tune of Rs. 9.8 billion per annum as a result of the delays in the construction and commissioning of the Uma Oya hydropower plant. 
Special traffic plans will be set in place tomorrow (24) around Colombo and Mattala in consideration of the arrival of Iranian President Dr. Ebrahim Raisi, Sri Lanka Police said. 
President Ranil Wickremesinghe emphasized the peril of politicizing education, warning that such a move would inevitably lead to the nation s downfall.
