A joint steering committee comprising all relevant government agencies has been established to provide solutions to prevent future flooding in the Gampaha district. 
The government has decided to provide Rs. 10,000 each for the families affected by floods in order to clean up their houses, State Minister of Defence Premitha Bandara Tennakoon said. 
An Israeli strike early Thursday on a school sheltering displaced Palestinians in central Gaza killed more than 30 people, including 23 women and children, according to local health officials. The Israeli military said Hamas militants were operating from within the school. 
The Supreme Court, which concluded the hearing of the Fundamental Rights (FR) petitions filed against the postponement of the 2023 Local Government elections, has deferred delivering its verdict.
