An estimated 500,000 students and 150,000 teachers across Sri Lanka are set to benefit from a new $50 million additional financing package approved by the World Bank yesterday (26) through its ongoing General Education Modernization Project. 
All academic activities at the External Degrees and Extension Courses Unit of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura have been temporarily suspended. 
The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Tu #776;rk has concluded his four-day official visit to Sri Lanka. 
Train operations on the Upcountry railway line have been disrupted following the derailment of a train at the Rambukkana railway station.
