Deputy Minister of Economic Development Prof. Anil Jayantha Fernando clarified the procedure for importing vehicles in the future, emphasizing the role of foreign reserve limitations in the process. 
India has taken strict action against substandard food imports, rejecting consignments of items like apples, nuts, alcoholic beverages, and sushi from countries including China, Japan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Turkey. These products failed to meet the quality and safety standards set by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. 
The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has strongly refuted recent claims regarding the revision of electricity tariffs. 
The Colombo Magistrate s Court has issued notice on former Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) Arjuna Mahendran to appear before the court on 25 February 2025 over a case filed by the Bribery Commission pertaining to the controversial bond issue in 2015. 
The 2025 Budget proposal will be presented to the Parliament on January 9, 2025, Cabinet Spokesman, Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa confirmed. 
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal for the restructuring of international sovereign bonds by way of swapping existing bonds for new bonds in accordance with the parameters indicated in the debt sustainability analysis conducted by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
