The passenger ferry service between Nagapattinam in India and Kankesanthurai (KKS) near Jaffna in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka, which was launched in October 2023 by the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), will resume on May 13, 2024 tentatively, the Indian High Commission in Colombo announced. 
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu s cabinet decided on Sunday to shut down Al Jazeera s operations in Israel for as long as the war in Gaza continues, on the grounds the Qatari television network threatens national security. 
A tense situation has been reported as a group of unemployed graduates surrounded the North Central Provincial Council building in protest and seeking solutions to their demands. 
Nearly 10,000 army personnel who were absent for duty without obtaining leave (AWOL) have been temporarily discharged from their Regimental Centers during the ongoing general amnesty period, the Sri Lanka Army said.
