The ceremonial opening of the First Session of the Tenth Parliament commenced a short while ago. 
The National People s Power (NPP) has reportedly decided to appoint MP Ashoka Ranwala, a long-time stalwart of the JVP, as the Speaker of the new Parliament. 
National People s Power (NPP) Gampaha District Member of Parliament Asoka Sapumal Ranwala has been unanimously appointed as the new Speaker of Parliament. 
Former Ministers Ramesh Pathirana, Roshan Ranasinghe and Prasanna Ranatunga have arrived at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) this morning (21), in order to provide statements pertaining to the alleged importation of substandard human immunoglobulin vials. 
The Speaker of Parliament Asoka Ranwala announced today (21) that President Anura Kumara Dissanayke has officially recognised Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Sajith Premadasa as the Leader of the Opposition.
