Two flights arriving at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake have been diverted to Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport as a result of extreme weather conditions. 
The Provincial Education Secretaries and Directors have been authorised to make a decision on whether or not to hold schools tomorrow (June 03) due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions across the island, State Minister of Education Aravindh Kumar said.
The Department of Meteorology says prevailing showery conditions are expected to continue in the south-western part of the island today. 
At least two persons have been reported missing in the Thawalama area in Galle due to floods, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) reported. 
President Ranil Wickremesinghe underscored that according to the constitution, prioritizing Buddhism is imperative. He emphasized that the responsibility of upholding this principle is vested in the executive, legislature and judiciary.
