Colombo Chief Magistrate Thilina Gamage today ordered the Directors of OnmaxDT - a private firm believed to have been operating a pyramid scheme, to prepare and submit to the court a process to pay back the investors who have invested money in the company. 
Sri Lanka s gross official reserves (GOR) stood at USD 5 billion by the end of March 2024, recording a notable increase compared to USD 4.4 billion at the end of 2023. 
The death toll climbed to 48 on Thursday as search efforts continued in southeastern China after a highway section collapsed in a mountainous area, sending more than 20 cars down a steep slope. 
Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena and Nazeer Ahamed were sworn in as provincial governors on Thursday (02), the President s Media Division (PMD) said. 
An individual who was allegedly planning to sell 05 kilograms of ambergris, also called grey amber or whale vomit, with a value of around Rs. 01 billion, has been arrested by police. 
The Committee on Public Finance (CoPF) has approved, subject to conditions, the Recovery of Loans by Banks (Special Provisions) (Amendment) Bill which was amended to facilitate legal provisions for the suspension of Parate Law until December 15.
