Muslim pilgrims have been streaming into Saudi Arabia s holy city of Mecca ahead of the start of the Hajj later this week, as the annual pilgrimage returns to its monumental scale. 
President Ranil Wickremesinghe met with SAARC Secretary General Golam Sarwar at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo this morning (12), according to the President s Media Division. 
A fire that broke out in a building housing workers in the city of Mangaf in southern Kuwait early on Wednesday has killed at least 41 people, the country s deputy prime minister Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah said during a visit to the site. 
President Ranil Wickremesinghe states that at present, certain politicians are making extensive promises without presenting any concrete policies to drive the country s economic growth.
