South Korea s former defence minister Kim Yong-hyun, who claimed responsibility for the president s failed attempt to place the country under martial law last week, has tried to take his own life, an official said. 
A fire has reportedly broken out at a house in the Pothupitiya area of Wadduwa, resulting in the complete destruction of the property, according to police. 
Former Member of Parliament M.K. Sivajilingam has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Colombo due to an illness, according to his relatives. 
The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health says that an unidentified fever is spreading in the Jaffna District, raising concerns among health authorities.
