Iran launched retaliatory airstrikes at Israel on Friday night, with explosions heard in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, the country s two largest cities, following Israel s biggest-ever military strike against its longstanding enemy. 
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment has announced that the Government of Sri Lanka is closely monitoring the evolving military situation between Israel and Iran. 
A charred body, identified as that of a police officer, was discovered inside a three-wheeler on the Kochchikade Kammal Thotupola seashore in Negombo this morning (14), police said. 
Sri Lanka s Ambassador to Israel, Nimal Bandara, has confirmed that Iran has launched multiple ballistic missile attacks targeting areas near Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, amid the ongoing escalation of hostilities between Iran and Israel. 
Acting Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), inspected the Turkish Navy ship TCG Büyükada, which arrived in Sri Lanka on an official visit yesterday (13 June).
