Sri Lanka s rupee, which suffered severe depreciation because of the island nation s unprecedented economic crisis since 2022, has started to make gains in comparison to other currencies, State Minister for Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said on Friday. 
The Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Yoko Kamikawa conveyed Japan s intension to further support Sri Lanka s development by swiftly resuming existing Yen loan projects once the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on debt restructuring is signed 
One person has been injured and hospitalised when police opened fire while attempting to bring a drug-addicted person under control during a dispute in the Molligoda area of Wadduwa this afternoon (04). 
The Meteorology Department says showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara district after 2.00 p.m.
