Power outages have been reported in several areas across the island, including Colombo, following heavy rains and strong winds that lashed parts of the country overnight (May 29). 
Several areas in and around Colombo sustained significant damage last night (29) as strong winds swept through the city, toppling trees and disrupting traffic movement. 
Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Dr. Harini Amarasuriya stated that today s young professionals must play a more active role in matters related to the national significance. 
The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) says that as of now, a total of 29,015 electricity breakdowns have been reported across the country due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions. 
Former Ministers Mahindananda Aluthgamage and Nalin Fernando, who were sentenced to rigorous imprisonment by the Colombo High Court on Wednesday (29), have been placed in a common ward at Welikada Prison, where they will be held with other general inmates. 
The Colombo High Court has fixed the case filed against Yoshitha Rajapaksasecond son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksaand his maternal grandmother Daisy Forrest, also known as "Daisy Achchi," to be heard on July 11. Copyright © 2007 - 2025 Col3neg. All Rights Reserved.
