In a significant bilateral meeting during the 10th World Water Summit, President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Indonesian President Joko Widodo reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the longstanding relationship between their nations. 
A total of 15,667 personnel of the Sri Lanka Army who had been absent without leave (AWOL), including 373 currently overseas, have been legally discharged from service under the common amnesty, the Sri Lanka Army announced. 
The overall rate of inflation, as measured by the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI), has increased to 2.7% in April 2024, compared to 2.5% in March 2024, according to the latest data release by the Department of Census and Statistics.
