The verdict in the case against a Brigadier and three soldiers of the Sri Lanka Army, over the shooting to death of three persons and injuring 45 others during a protest by villagers demanding clean drinking water at Rathupaswala, Gampaha is scheduled to be delivered today (17) by a special three-member high court bench. 
Former Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, General (Retd) Mahesh Senanayake has joined the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB). 
The Ella-Wellawaya road which was temporarily closed due to inclement weather conditions has been reopened for traffic movement. 
The Department of Examination has commenced an investigation related to an incident where a group of students had not received a section of the Geography question paper during the 2023 (2024) G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination. 
The four accused in the case over the shooting to death of three persons and injuring 45 others during a protest by villagers demanding clean drinking water at Rathupaswala in 2013, have been acquitted by the Gampaha High Court Trial-at-Bar.
