The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) of India has conducted a major operation culminating in the arrest of two Sri Lankan nationals who were allegedly key players of an international drug trafficking syndicate having links in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Australia. 
A freight train running on the upcountry line has derailed between Uduwara and Demodara railway stations. 
The Department of Meteorology says a few showers will occur in Eastern and Uva provinces. 
A three-member Commission of Inquiry (CoI) has been appointed to investigate, inquire into and report or take necessary actions on findings of preceding commissions or committees on alleged human rights violations, serious violations of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and other such offences in Sri Lanka.
