Minister of Water Supply and Estate Infrastructure Development, Jeevan Thondaman, affirmed that the government is ready to face any situation if the estate companies take court action against the government s decision to increase the wages of the estate workers community. 
The granting of approval by the Cabinet of Ministers for the proposals concerning the monthly allowance and wage disparities of university non-academic staff has been further delayed. 
President Ranil Wickremesinghe has instructed Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena to look into the possibility of invalidating the nominations accepted for the postponed 2023 Local Government (LG) election.
