Several health sector trade unions have decided to launch a token strike at all hospitals in the Central Province on Monday (13) over their demands. 
U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Donald Lu, has commenced his official visit to Sri Lanka today (13). 
Due to a low-level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, showery conditions are expected to be enhanced during the next few days, according to the Meteorology Department. 
Issuing a statement addressing the growing concerns over the government s plans to sell off national assets and state-owned enterprises (SOEs), former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has states that these actions of the government have given rise to discontent among trade unions, political parties and the general public. 
The Meteorology Department warns that thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Eastern and Uva provinces and in Colombo, Gampaha, Puttalam, Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi and Polonnaruwa districts today (12). 
President Ranil Wickremesinghe stated that he expects to increase the growth rate of Sri Lanka s economy up to 3% by the year 2025 and mentioned that steps would be taken to increase the salaries of government employees. Copyright © 2007 - 2024 Col3neg. All Rights Reserved.
