The United States has lifted a pause on food donations, the U.N. World Food Programme said, ending a suspension that an aid watchdog on Monday warned had left 500,000 metric tons of food currently at sea or ready to be shipped in limbo. 
A total of 17 police personnel have been dismissed during the last four months over the charges of using narcotic drugs, Police Spokesman SSP Buddhika Manathunga said today (11). 
Sri Lanka Police say that 13 shooting incidents have been reported during the period elapsed so far this year. 
As part of the National Animal Exchange Program, Sri Lanka has received a pair of brown bears, a pair of hyenas, and three pairs of meerkats from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for exhibition in local zoological gardens. 
Sri Lanka Police has taken measures to establish a Central Crimes Investigation Bureau (CCIB) with DIG Nihal Thalduwa as the Range DIG and SSP Shani Abeysekera as its Director.
