The French president, Emmanuel Macron, is expected to impose a new four-week national lockdown to halt the spread of Covid-19, according to French media. 
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has tweeted that Sri Lanka will not be embroiled in the conflicts between power blocs and insisted on maintaining a neutral stance in the country s foreign policy. 
China has helped Sri Lanka to develop infrastructure after the civil war and Sri Lanka has not fallen into a debt trap, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has told United States Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo. 
The total number of Covid-19 infections confirmed in the country topped the 9,000 mark, as 211 more persons linked to the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster were tested positive for the virus this evening (28). 
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Uva, Eastern and North-Central provinces and in Hambantota, Mullaitivu and Vavuniya districts after 2.00 pm, says the Department of Meteorology.
