A collective health sector trade unions have launched a token strike at all hospitals in the Central Province today (13) over their demands including an increase in allowances. 
The resumption of the passenger ferry service from Nagapattinam to Kankesanthurai has been postponed due to the delay in arrival of the vessel and meeting regulatory compliance. 
Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha announced plans to recruit sports coaches, previously appointed to non-academic positions in schools from National Colleges of Education (NIEs), into the teaching service. 
The Nugegoda Magistrate s Court has issued an order preventing the students and non-academic staff of the Open University of Sri Lanka and the University of Sri Jayawardenapura from engaging in a protest march near several schools in the Nugegoda area where G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination is currently held. 
In response to the concerns raised surrounding the alleged irregularities pertaining to the 2023 (2024) G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination s English and Science question papers, Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha affirmed that measures will be taken to prevent any injustices to the affected students.
