The body of one of the six missing students has been recovered after the tractor they were traveling in was caught in floodwaters at Karaitivu in Ampara District, last evening (26). 
The body of another student out of the six who went missing after the tractor they were traveling on toppled and was swept away by floodwaters at Karaitivu in Ampara District last evening (26), has been discovered. 
The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has extended the Level 3 (Red) Landslide Early Warning issued to several divisional secretariat divisions (DSDs) in Kandy, Matale and Nuwara-Eliya districts urging the residents of these areas to evacuate to safer locations. 
The Director of Health Services for the Sabaragamuwa Province, Dr. Kapila Kannangara, has stated that the Ratnapura District has recorded the highest number of deaths and infections from leptospirosis disease this year.
