The Ministry of Education has announced that schools in several districts in the Western, Southern and Sabaragamuwa provinces will remain closed on Tuesday (04) due to the prevailing disaster situation. 
The maximum retail price of a 50kg bag of cement has been reduced by Rs. 150 to Rs. 2,250 with effect from June 01. 
The number of casualties reported due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions across the island has climbed to 12, as of today (June 03), State Minister of Defence, Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon said. 
The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) has kept an SLAF Bell 412 helicopter on standby at the Neluwa Public Grounds to respond immediately to any disaster calls, the SLAF media unit said.
