A total of 15,667 personnel of the Sri Lanka Army who had been absent without leave (AWOL), including 373 currently overseas, have been legally discharged from service under the common amnesty, the Sri Lanka Army announced. 
Schools in the Puttalam District are scheduled to reopen tomorrow (22 May) for academic activities, according to the Provincial Director of Education of the North-Western Province. 
One passenger was killed and 30 injured after a Singapore Airlines flight from London hit severe turbulence en route on Tuesday, forcing it to make an emergency landing in Bangkok, officials and the airline said. 
Amnesty International s Secretary General, Agnès Callamard, concluded a five-day visit to Sri Lanka on Monday, in which she met with officials and a diverse cross-section of society, stakeholders to discuss a range of pressing human rights issues.
