The Vehicle Importers Association insists on the necessity of a proper regulatory framework for vehicle imports in Sri Lanka. 
Today is International Workers Day, also known as Labour Day, which is observed annually on May 1 in Sri Lanka and the world at large. 
The censured Chairman of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) former President Maithripala Sirisena says that Minister Wijayadasa Rajapakshe will be the SLFP s presidential candidate in the upcoming election. 
President Ranil Wickremesinghe called upon the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), the Samagi Jana Balavegaya (SJB) and other political parties to extend their support to the government in safeguarding the agreements forged with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). 
Sri Lanka s Foreign Minister Ali Sabry and Saudi Arabia s Minister of Investment Khalid Al Falih have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Investment Promotion between the two countries.
