Actress Damitha Abeyratne and her husband, who were arrested over alleged fraud, have been further remanded on the orders of Colombo Fort Magistrate s Court. 
The 31-year-old, who was arrested for allegedly singing a distorted version of the popular New Year song Sooriya Mangalle by veteran singer Rohana Beddage and sharing it on social media, has been remanded. 
The number of buses in operation across the country has been increased to facilitate the return of people who visited their hometowns for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, says the Private Bus Owners Association. 
The final rites of the late Dr. A. T. Ariyaratne, the founder and the President Emeritus of the Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement of Sri Lanka, will be performed with full state honours. 
The Department of Immigration and Emigration says its new visa process and the online visa application portal will be implemented today (17).
