The Department for Registration of Persons head office at Battaramulla and several other provincial offices will be open from 08.30 a.m. to 01.00 p.m. today (May 04) for G.C.E. Ordinary Level candidates to obtain their National Identity Cards (NICs). 
The Colombo High Court today announced that it will deliver its decision on May 31 concerning the plea filed by four defendants, including former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal, seeking the dismissal of the case filed against them by the Bribery Commission and the release of the defendants. 
Forty-four Sri Lankans who were in different prisons across the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have been pardoned by a Royal order, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi said. 
The inauguration of mobile court systems, facilitating the remote presentation of suspects before courts through online channels, took place today (04) at three prisons in the Southern Province. 
Sri Lanka s rupee, which suffered severe depreciation because of the island nation s unprecedented economic crisis since 2022, has started to make gains in comparison to other currencies, State Minister for Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said on Friday.
