The committee tasked with addressing administrative issues within Sri Lanka Police, including the delays in disciplinary inquiries, has submitted its report to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon. 
The Committee of Public Finance (COPF), at its most recent meeting, has examined the effectiveness of recent tax increases on tobacco and liquor, aimed at discouraging consumption and boosting government revenue. 
The Ministry of Education says that the cabinet memorandum submitted regarding the removal of salary disparities and allowances of the non-academic staff of state universities will be submitted to the ministerial sub-committee. 
Sri Lanka has shown a significant drop in annual birth rate while the number of annual deaths has increased since 2020, the Registrar General s Department revealed. 
President Ranil Wickremesinghe emphasized the government s aim to create a highly competitive, export-oriented economy based on market economy, expressing full faith in the business community of the country.
