President Ranil Wickremesinghe announced the implementation of a new program aimed at improving the living conditions of retired security forces members, the President s Media Division reported. 
State Minister for Urban Development and Housing, Arundika Fernando, announced that state enterprises are now open to private sector investments, but only at the government s assessed value. 
Norway, Ireland and Spain said Wednesday they are recognizing a Palestinian state in a historic move that drew condemnation from Israel and jubilation from the Palestinians. Israel immediately ordered back its ambassadors from Norway and Ireland.
