The A-9 main road to Jaffna which was closed at Omanthai due to floods has now been reopened for traffic movement, police said. 
A virtual meeting was held yesterday (27) between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the President of the World Bank Group (WBG) Mr. Ajay Banga at the Presidential Secretariat, to discuss Sri Lanka s future development priorities. 
A 59-year-old resident of the Madumulla area in Uda Pussellawa has reportedly died after falling into a water-filled drain in the Mawathagama Industrial Zone in Koswatta. 
Adverse weather conditions have severely impacted 20 districts across the island, with total of 80,642 families in 166 Divisional Secretariat divisions currently affected, according to the Disaster Management Center (DMC). 
Both houses of Indian parliament were suspended temporarily on Thursday within minutes of opening as opposition lawmakers disrupted proceedings for the third day this week seeking a discussion on allegations against the Adani Group.
