Several areas in and around Colombo sustained significant damage last night (29) as strong winds swept through the city, toppling trees and disrupting traffic movement. 
The Colombo High Court has fixed the case filed against Yoshitha Rajapaksasecond son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksaand his maternal grandmother Daisy Forrest, also known as "Daisy Achchi," to be heard on July 11. 
Asian shares were mostly lower Friday as uncertainty grew about what will happen next after a U.S. court blocked many of President Donald Trump s sweeping tariffs. 
Power outages have been reported in several areas across the island, including Colombo, following heavy rains and strong winds that lashed parts of the country overnight (May 29). 
The Disaster Management Center (DMC) reports that a total of 1,757 individuals from 485 families have been affected by the adverse weather conditions currently impacting the island. 
UPDATE- A Bell 412 helicopter of the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) has rescued three fishermen from a vessel marooned on seas off Balapitiya due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions. MORE..
