President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has tweeted that Sri Lanka will not be embroiled in the conflicts between power blocs and insisted on maintaining a neutral stance in the country s foreign policy. 
In an exclusive interview with Ada Derana, US Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo says that the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement is one of many opportunities offered by the United States, and that it is ultimately up to Sri Lanka to choose whether to accept it. 
The total number of Covid-19 infections confirmed in the country topped the 9,000 mark, as 211 more persons linked to the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster were tested positive for the virus this evening (28). 
More COVID-19 positive cases have been identified raising the total number of cases reported from the Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda clusters to 5,731. 
Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva appealed to the public to exercise maximum restraint and avoid congested gatherings as much as possible to avoid further transmission of Covid-19.
