The Commissioner General of Examinations, Amith Jayasundara has announced that G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination candidates who are unable to reach their designated examination centres due to adverse weather conditions are permitted to sit for their exams at the nearest available centres. 
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has emphasized that simply reinforcing institutional frameworks is insufficient for effective disaster management. 
The Department of Meteorology has issued a Red alert warning for the land and the deep and shallow sea areas around the island today (25) as a low pressure area intensifies over South-East Bay of Bengal. 
The Meteorology Department says the Depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal was located to southeast about 290km of Batticaloa and 410 km of Trincomalee at around 11.30 p.m of November 25, 2024. 
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal for the restructuring of international sovereign bonds by way of swapping existing bonds for new bonds in accordance with the parameters indicated in the debt sustainability analysis conducted by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
