Four youths have been arrested on suspicion of attempting to abduct a 16-year-old schoolgirl who was on her way home after sitting for the G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination. 
A 26-year-old youth has been clubbed to death inside a house in the Horahena area in Hokandara. 
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Tharaka Balasuriya announced that President Ranil Wickremesinghe has issued directives for the dispatch of a specialized delegation to Russia to investigate the welfare of Sri Lankans amidst the on-going Russian-Ukraine war. 
President Ranil Wickremesinghe has directed the prompt commencement of construction of the "Ashraf Memorial Museum" in Kalmunai, honoring the late M.H.M. Ashraf, founder of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) and former Minister.
