The Meteorology Department says several spells of showers will occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts. 
President Ranil Wickremesinghe has symbolically awarded 442 out of the allotted 5,000 land deeds to the people of Mannar district under the Urumaya national program, the President Media Division (PMD) said. 
President Ranil Wickremesinghe met with Most Rev. Dr. Fidelis Lionel Emmanuel Fernando, the Bishop of Mannar, Diocese of Mannar at the Mannar Bishops House today (16). 
Wasantha Athukorala, a professor in the Department of Economics and Statistics at the University of Peradeniya, alleges that the government is working to introduce an imputed rental income tax, as the government failed to prepare plans for the implementation of a property tax by April 2025
