Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal (Retired) Sampath Thuyacontha is currently on a visit to the Arugam Bay area to inspect the prevailing security situation, the Defence Ministry said. 
Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasooriya affirmed that law enforcement in Sri Lanka operates without political interference, following instructions from the current government to apply the law equally to all citizens. 
The election campaigning activities for the 2024 General Election are scheduled to end at midnight tomorrow (Nov. 11). 
Two youths were reportedly killed in separate road accidents in the Sevanagala and Panamura police divisions yesterday (09).
