Cabinet approval has been received to gazette the Economic Transformation Bill and to present it to Parliament for approval, the Department of Government Information (DGI) reported. 
Foreign Secretary Aruni Wijewardane has met with U.S. Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu and discussed avenues to further consolidate Sri Lanka - U.S. bilateral relations. 
Minister of Water Supply and Estate Infrastructure Development, Jeevan Thondaman, affirmed that the government is ready to face any situation if the estate companies take court action against the government s decision to increase the wages of the estate workers community. 
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa alleged that 56 out of the 322 ambulances belonging to the 1990 Suwa Seriya free ambulance service are now out of service. 
United States Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Donald Lu, who is on an official visit to the island, has met with leaders from across Sri Lanka s political spectrum including opposition parties the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and the National Peoples Power (NPP).
