A new circular has been issued regarding the leave approval of government officials who have left the country during the COVID-19 pandemic and failed to return due to the pandemic situation. 
The trade unions affiliated with the Health Trade Union Alliance have decided to launch a 4-hour token strike in the hospitals at the provincial level from today (09) due to unmet demands. 
President Ranil Wickremesinghe states that for the reconstruction of the fallen country, economic stabilization and recovery programs were formally implemented and that as a result, the journey of economic growth started in the middle of 2023. 
The Meteorology Department warns that thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Eastern, Uva and North-central provinces and in Matale, Mullaitivu and Kurunegala districts today (9). 
Minister of Labor and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara has urged the general public not to seek military employment opportunities in foreign countries.
